As a woman pursuing financial independence, you will value a good salary. After all, bills won’t pay themselves, and passion alone can’t fund your lifestyle. However, even when money is coming in, something might still feel off.

You might find yourself waking up on a Monday already wishing it were Friday or delivering outstanding work while feeling a lack of enthusiasm and starting to seek something more. The good news is that finding “more” doesn’t necessarily mean quitting your job and moving to Bali.

Sometimes, it’s about rediscovering meaning right where you are, and here’s how to do that.

1. Pay attention to what excites you

Think about the things that make your eyes light up or keep you talking for hours. It could be helping people organize their lives, writing stories, styling outfits, or teaching others. The things that make your heart beat a little faster? That’s your spirit waving a flag that says, “This is me.”

2. Reflect on what drains you vs what energizes you

Not every skill equals purpose. You might be great at accounting but feel empty doing it. Or you might feel alive every time you speak, create, or connect. Take note of what activities leave you feeling recharged, those are clues pointing toward your purpose.

3. Revisit your childhood passions.

Before life got serious, what did you love to do for fun? Sometimes our childhood dreams hold hints of our adult purpose, we just outgrew the form, not the essence. Maybe that little girl who loved drawing or organizing pretend events was already revealing who you were meant to be.

4. Identify your strengths

Write down the things that come effortlessly to you and develop on them. We often overlook our gifts because they feel so natural. Maybe you’re a peacemaker, a problem-solver, or a storyteller. Pay attention to what people often thank or compliment you for, it’s usually something tied to your purpose.

5. Align your work with your values.

Purpose thrives when what you do reflects what you believe in. If you value growth, creativity, or helping others, but your current job offers none of that, it’s no wonder you feel off. You don’t always have to switch careers, sometimes it’s about finding ways to live your values where you are. You can start from your community, place or worship, or use your social media accounts to champion that.

6. Start small but start somewhere

Purpose doesn’t demand a grand announcement. It could start with a side project, volunteering, teaching a free class, or launching a small blog. Test the waters, follow your curiosity, and build consistency. Small steps can open big doors.

7. Give yourself permission to evolve

Your purpose at 25 might not be the same at 35 or 45, and that’s okay. You’re allowed to grow, pivot, and rediscover yourself over and over again. Life isn’t static, and neither is your calling.

8. Be patient with the process

Sometimes clarity comes slowly. You might stumble, switch paths, or feel lost for a while. But even in the confusion, something is forming. Give yourself grace finding purpose isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. There’s more to life than making a living, and the sweetest thing about finding purpose? It doesn’t just change what you do, it transforms who you become. So, here’s to doing work that doesn’t just fill your bank account but fills your soul too!
