In today’s busy world, it’s easy to get caught up in everything happening around us. There’s drama on one side and controversies on the other, and social media makes it even harder to focus. We’re flooded with updates about other people’s lives, and before we know it, we’re more interested in their stories than our own. This article is a reminder to take a step back and focus on what really matters to you. So, grab your favourite drink or snack, and let’s talk about this together!

1. What is truly important to you?

First, let’s figure out what’s most important to you. Is it your family, career, health, friendships, or a mix of all these? Take a moment and write down what makes you happy and fulfilled.

Fun challenge: Draw a pie chart and divide it into slices for each part of your life based on importance. This will help you see where you might want to spend more time and where you can cut back.

2. Do you say yes to unnecessary things?

We’ve all been there—saying “yes” to everything. Consuming every gossip or gist that is brought to our attention. It’s time to learn how to say “no” without feeling guilty. By saying no to things that don’t match your priorities, you’ll have more time and energy for what truly matters. So, instead of gossiping about that new girl whom your coworkers do not like, you can pick up a pending task and channel all of your energy into completing the task.

Fun challenge: Before you agree to something, ask yourself: “Does this fit my priorities?” If not, don’t be afraid to say, “No, thank you.”

3. Are you busy or just disorganized?

Let’s be honest, we often overbook ourselves. From meetings to errands, our schedules can get cluttered fast. You then find yourself feeling overwhelmed and can no longer create time for what truly matters. If this is you and you want a change, then our challenge is for you.

Fun Challenge: For one week, try to keep your schedule light. Use that extra time to do something you love, read a book, take a walk, or have a dance party at home!

4. Do you choose quality over quantity?

When it comes to relationships with family, friends, or colleagues, it’s about quality, not quantity. Focus on meaningful interactions rather than trying to be everywhere at once. You do not have to be every body’s friend or go to person. Be selective with whom you spend your time with and the kind of conversations you have with these people.

Fun challenge: Plan a “tech-free” dinner with loved ones. Put away the phones and enjoy real conversation. You’ll feel more connected and refreshed!

5. Do you come first?

Don’t get so carried away with life and its side attractions that you forget to prioritize yourself.  Sometimes in trying to be actively present in the lives of friends and family, you might find yourself focusing less on you.  You can’t help others if you’re running on empty, so make time for yourself. Whether it’s a spa day, exercise, or just relaxing, prioritize self-care.

Fun challenge: Create a self-care jar. Write down different self-care activities on pieces of paper and pick one whenever you need some “me time.” It could be as simple as a bubble bath or watching your favourite movie.

6. How often do you celebrate your wins?

As you cheer on your favourite movie stars or celebrities and their achievements, don’t forget to celebrate your achievements too! Whether big or small, anything you achieve is a big deal. As you applaud yourself more, you will develop a spirit of contentment and won’t have to compare yourself with other people.

Fun challenge: At the end of each week, think about what you’ve accomplished and give yourself a little treat. Ladies, life is too short to spend on things that don’t matter. You’ll find more joy and balance in every part of your life when you focus on what truly matters. We hope you find this useful and here’s to living a life that matters!
