If you live in Nigeria especially Lagos and haven’t heard of MelonyPine, then you’re seriously missing out! This is one of the city’s most talked-about healthy dessert brands, and behind all the fruit bowls, parfaits, and yummy treats is a woman who dared to dream, dared to start, and never gave up

Augusta is the owner and CEO of MelonyPine Nigeria (officially MelonyPine Integrated). She kicked things off in May 2018, right at her church in Calabar with an umbrella, a plastic table, fresh fruits, and some simple packaging cups. That was her “office.” After Sunday service, she began selling fresh fruit bowls and layered parfaits to her fellow churchgoers. No fancy kitchen, no big business plan, just passion, courage, and fresh fruits.

Within two months, her creations were selling so well that she teamed up with a small shop owner to stock her products. Word of mouth worked its magic, and soon enough, Augusta opened her first store in the heart of Calabar. But she didn’t stop there.

Fast forward to June 2023, Augusta relaunched her business with a sharper vision. She rebranded as Melony Pine Fruit Hub, upgraded the look and taste of her products, and introduced premium fruit bowls, yoghurts, and gorgeously layered parfaits that were as delicious as they were Instagram-worthy. Customers didn’t just eat the parfaits, they shared them.

In early 2024, Augusta attended a branding class with marketing expert Nelly Agbogu. But she didn’t just sit and take notes, she took a bold step. She handed out over 250 sample parfaits to attendees. That bold move paid off big time. Soon after, renowned food critic Opeyemi Famakin mentioned Melony Pine as one of Lagos’s top parfait brands, sending orders and buzz skyrocketing.

What used to be a business selling a hundred bowls a week quickly scaled to thousands of orders weekly. How? By combining amazing products, smart branding, and clever marketing. Augusta partnered with influencers, embraced social media storytelling, and turned happy customers into brand ambassadors.

And she hasn’t stopped there. Augusta also mentors other aspiring food entrepreneurs, teaching them how to build their own healthy food businesses.

From selling fruit under a church umbrella to leading one of Lagos’s most Instagram-worthy dessert brands, Augusta’s story teaches us that you don’t wait for the perfect moment, you create it. Big dreams can grow from humble beginnings, as long as you keep serving, learning, and showing up every single day.
