The Nigerian fashion industry is dominated by multi talented women and we are shining the spotlight on a phenomenal designer – Dr. Ronke Suzan Bodamisi also known as BigBronx. She is a Nigerian fashion entrepreneur, plus-size model, ex beauty queen, and the brilliant mind behind BAEBRONX- a clothing brand that produces world class designs for confident and alluring women. What makes her story so beautiful isn’t just the success she’s built, but the heart, courage, and purpose behind it all.
BigBronx studied Polymer and Textile Engineering at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, graduating in 2017. She also holds an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration. Aware that navigating the Nigerian corporate space as a visibly curvy woman could come with its own challenges, she chose a different path.
After completing her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2019, she shifted her focus to personal health and fitness, openly documenting a remarkable body transformation journey. Her honesty and vulnerability resonated deeply with women who saw themselves in her story, steadily growing her online following and influence as a source of inspiration and empowerment.
As a plus-size woman herself, she noticed a big gap in fashion. She saw a need for stylish, classy clothes for women who didn’t fit the fashion world’s usual mold. To solve that problem, she created BAEBRONX which has grown into a full-fledged clothing line and clothing factory, designing pieces that make every woman feel confident, beautiful, and powerful.
Ronke’s influence goes far beyond clothes. Her brand celebrates body positivity and self-expression, showing that confidence and style come in all shapes and sizes. Her message resonates with women across Africa and around the world.
In recognition of her hard work and impact, she was honoured with prestigious titles including an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration and being named one of Africa’s Under 40 CEOs affirming her place as a leading voice in fashion and entrepreneurship.
If you’re a woman still searching for your passion, still wondering if you have what it takes, start with what you know. Start with what you need. start with what makes you uncomfortable and turn it into something that makes others comfortable.
Because somewhere out there, there’s a woman who needs exactly what you have to offer!
